I was first introduced to the kneeling style chairs (without a back) 20+ years ago at one of my places of employment. I thought it was odd at first, but quickly learned the benefits and over all comfort of this sitting position. Slouching forward with a curved back compresses your internal organs and engages various back muscles to support the head and shoulders given the curvature of the spine. Sitting and standing with the correct posture helps to open up the lungs and other organs, and allows the bones of the spine to naturally support the weight of the head and shoulders, saving your back muscles from extended exertion over time.I had previously purchased, I believe, this exact chair a number of years ago for home use, and had it for a couple years before it got left behind in on of my many moves. I really liked this chair. I am about 5'7" and in the neighborhood of 150 lbs. and had never had issue one with this chair. One thing to keep in mind with a kneeling chair is that if you are using the back rest, you are not using the chair correctly. They are built specifically to kneel, not recline, which places you naturally in an upright, straight-back position. Now, I am not only a computer technician by trade, but I also spend a lot of my leisure time on the computer. For me, if I am watching videos, I will scoot back in the chair, lean back, and put one of my feet on one of the knee pads, and, aside from slightly sliding down the seat over time, can sit relatively comfortably for moderate periods of time. But when I am actively browsing or typing, I move forward in the seat, and place my knees in their correct position, and can work for extended periods without experiencing the back pain associated with slouching over the keyboard as is natural to do when seated in a standard chair. It is also always helpful to elevate your display so that center screen is at eye level, so that you do not naturally tilt your head forward and down, again, moving the weight of the head into a position where you must engage/exert muscle to support it.All in all, I will be ordering this precise chair again, without hesitation very soon. This, of course, is just my opinion and my experience, and should not necessarily take away from the experiences of others. I just felt compelled to add a little more balance to the reviews here. I feel this product deserves that.I bought this chair to get some relief from sciatic back pain. While it was uncomfortable on the shins at first -- and I did get some bruises at the first week -- it was OK once I got used to it. It still bothers my shins, but the relief I get for my back is worth it. I definitely notice a difference on those occasions where I have to sit in a standard chair for a prolonged period. Why 3 stars? Because after only 3 months, the threads on the bolt holding the rear wheel in place are complete stripped. Any time I move the chair, there's a risk that the wheel is going to come off and throw me off balance. At 170 lbs I'm well within the weight threshhold, and I don't abuse the chair. I'm going to attempt a Gorilla Glue repair, but it will make the wheel fixed. Kind of a bummer for a chair I need to wheel up to my desk. :/ Too late for a return at this point.I honestly don’t understand what all the complaints about discomfort are about. I bought this chair used - like new condition and I am super happy with it! Easy to navigate around the floor. I like that it’s one of the few ergonomic chairs I can lean back into if I want. I am 9 months pregnant and have horrible sciatica and every time I sit in this chair all the pressure in my back and hips and sciatic nerve are all so relieved. Lots of bad reviews regarding the knee pads but I think they’re fine just like any other ergonomic chair. They’re cushioned. Maybe some people are too heavy or just have sensitive knees. I am 150 pounds and pregnant and it doesn’t hurt my knees, though I’m sure if you sit in any position for a certain amount of time something will start hurting. The chair shipped quicker than expected, was not damaged and all parts were in the packaging. The chair works well once i put it together. I wish it had a height adjustment, and I also wish it adjusted down to a flat seating position. Also, it would be nice if the knee rests were adjustable because after some time, it becomes a bit painful on the shins and/or knees. Also, I wish there was a back rest adjustment.I have found positions that this chair does quite well for me and it has really helped my lower back. I am happy with this product, but for the price, I wish it had more versatile adjustment options to make it more comfortable. One more thing....the tilt adjustment takes so long to adjust, I would hope there could be a quicker way to change positions. With all of my complaints, I am happy with this chair overall and will be keeping it.I like that the chair's height is adjustable but nothing elseThe chair feels cheap: pads are not ergonomic and foam lost springiness within 2 months, huge gaps, backrest wood anchors do not feel secure. For the price, not bad, but I'd be surprised if the chair lasts a year without having to replace or tweak parts. For what it is this is alright, however there are two problems. First the padding for the knee supports could be thicker, it is fine for short time frames, however does start to cause pain with longer durations. The second problem is the back support. The chair is metal, except for the seat base which holds the support for your back. If you are a heavier person, or just lean a little too far the seat base will break where the back support attachment bolts are located. This left us with not just the back falling off, but also a crack across the middle of the middle of the seat base. If you are cautious it isn't bad for the type of chair it is and the price point. The low compared price is probably the reason for a low quality of materials used and neglected finesse. I could make essential adjustments myself (changed seating tilt, and cloth material as cover) and use it now frequently.
