To keep the light from being so bright.Too expensive, but beautiful.Love the make of this but it just wont fit my lights. The size was off but the manufacturer was willing to customize it for me. They were extremely helpful and accommodating. However, due to how it was bought (through a grant), we could not make it happen. I will definitely buy from them in the future.
