I like the foot rest because I find myself leaning back and putting my feet on one of my desk's support members. Now, the foot rest works for that and lets me sit in different positions.The one thing I did not know is that with a foot rest, you don't get the spring in the front that allows you to just lean back and tilt the chair back. There is a lever to adjust the position of the chair back, so you can lean further back than a standard chair, but it's not "automatic." Minor nuisance, but something of which I was unaware.Product not well made, comes apart eventually with normal use.
